EL VALLE DE ANTON

At only two hours from Panama City, through the Panamerican Highway, we find El Valle de Anton, to 600 meters above sea level with a fresh and agreeable climate.

Here exist a great variety of touristic attractions; the water falls, are impressive, the most famous being El Chorro de las Mozas and El Macho.

The main local activity is on Sundays in the Crafts Market, there its inhabitants sell craftsmanship (basketwork, carved soap stones, ceramics), agricultural products, plants. The sales start at seven in the morning and end at five in the afternoon.

The town has good restaurants and hotels. If you want to, you can also rent private houses.

Many city people and visitors, from abroad and nationals go to this place on weekends. Some operators offer tours on Saturdays and Sundays. If not, you can take the public transportation from Panama City at the bus terminals located at Albrook, you can go round-trip within the same day.

El Valle de Anton is known as the Eternal Spring and a sanctuary for mediation.

SQUARE TREES

These trees are of the Quararible gender of the Bombacacea family and they qrow up to a heigth ranging between 12 and 15 meters. Its peculiarity is that its trunk is totally square at the base.

GOLDEN FROGS
(Atelopus varius)

These are a species of batracious endemic of the place. The precolombian inhabitants believed that when they died they turned into gold. The Golden Frog have been exhibited at the Calavera Country in California, Jubilee Frog Jump Course and were inmortalized by Mark Twain in this famous story The Golden Frogs.
